a)      After School Programs

·         Ukulele for Kids is proving to be very popular

o   Some parents have inquired as to if they can join as well

o   Hanna K (volunteer) advised that parents cannot join the kids’ class but perhaps a separate adult class can be arranged. Ms. Adaskin will look into permitting issues and Hanna K will investigate

b)      Cookbook

·         Janin R presented progress on the cookbook fundraiser

·         Theme will be ‘Easy Eats’ and the Gateway publishing website is ready to accept recipes

·         Flyer to parents ready to go out in the Thursday mailing

·         80 recipes will be needed to make the project move forward

·         Discussion occurred regarding the theme.  Some concern was raised that the scope wasn’t broad enough however, Janin R explained that narrowing it to one topic this year and others in following years helps to ensure this is something that could happen annually

Decision               As the decision was made at the last RAPT meeting that the theme would be Easy Eats to enable an annual cookbook, and given that the set up for this theme has been done, the theme will remain ‘Easy Eats’

·         Janin R suggested a cookbook cover contest for the students

o   One cover winner and 4 section winners could be chosen

·         Cookbook notice will go with a deadline of March 23rd for recipe submissions

o   Cannot wait until after March Break to put out flyer as it would push delivery of the cookbook into June.

c)       2012-13 Fundraising Meeting

·         The Fundraising meeting will be held March 23, 1pm in the staff room

·         This meeting determines models for fundraising and social activities to be approved at a subsequent RAPT Meeting

·         The annual Open House BBQ & Book Fair will be held on May 3rd

·         Call out was made for Volunteers to organize and run the BBQ

o   Volunteer team of parents was established.  Thank you to Mariam S, Lucy C, Hanna K, Maryna A, Rita N Ambreen S, Kim P & Anthony C

·         A meeting will be set up to determine the next steps

e)      Jump Rope for Heart

·         Decision was made at the last RAPT meeting to move forward with Jump Rope for Heart as it is their 50th anniversary

·         Ms. Miller has advised that the tentative date will be May 18th

5.      By-law update

·         Janin R presented a second draft of the by-law

·         Most items in the by-law are dictated by the Education Act and the TDSB

·         Key points include:

o    All parents and staff are automatically members of RAPT

o    RAPT parents members will elect seven member to RAPT Council

o    RAPT Staff members will elect 2 staff members to RAPT Council

o    Voting Members of RAPT will be limited to the Council (seven elected parent members and 2 elected staff members).  The principal is a member of RAPT council but is non-voting

o    The seven parent members of Council will decide on the Officer positions of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary

·         Final draft will be presented at the next RAPT meeting with the goal ratify them at that meeting.
