RAPT Meeting, May 1st

Rippleton Track and Field Meet

The Annual Track & Field Meet for all students in Gr 1-6 will take place on April 30th.  Mrs. McCormick has asked if we can supply some volunteers to help with the events.

It is a fun day and a great opportunity to cheer on the students.  Results of this event help determine who goes on to represent Rippleton at the Area Track & Field Meet at Esther Shiner Stadium on May 14th.

Please click on the Volunteer Spot button below to see our volunteer needs for the morning and afternoon events:

Message from the Principal

Gas Smell at Rippleton

Today during the lunch hour, there was a strong smell of natural gas outside in the playground. To be safe, we called the Fire Department to investigate, who responded around 12:10. The smell had dissipated, but was still evident and came in gusts. We brought all the students into the school from their lunch recess, around 12:15 while they investigated. Enbridge was called and the Fire Chief and crew checked our valves and surrounding area.

The Chief then located the source of the smell, which was a punctured gas line due to construction, on Cicada Ave, one and a half blocks away from the school. The Fire Chief gave us the all clear to resume our day as usual, including having the children outside as the gas is not toxic, just smelly, and there was no worry of combustion. They told us that the leak would be capped within a half hour to an hour, and that there was no danger to Rippleton.

If you have any other questions, please give me a call.
Appreciatively,
Susan

Last Call for Cookbook Orders

There is still time to get in your cookbook order.  Orders will be accepted until the end of the day, Monday April 8th.   If for some reason the order form did not make it home, you can get one by clicking on this link:

We will be ordering a limited number of extra cookbooks to sell at events for a price of $20 each, so now is your chance to get one for $15 or even less if you order 3 or more.

It makes a great gift and keepsake and all funds raised support the school.
